C
Conversion factor force sensors
1 mbar = 100 Pa
1 bar = 14,5 PSI
1 PSI = 68,95 mbar
D
Degree of protection
Degree of protection provided by the enclosure according to DIN EN 60529. It indicates to what extent the pressure switch is protected from humidity and dust as well as from the ingress of solid foreign bodies.
M
Membrane classifications
R NBR Butadien Acrylnitril Copolymer
F FKM Fluoro rubber of the polymethylene
E EPDM CH Terpolymer ethylene propylene
N CR NEOPREN Polymer chloroprene
M MVQ Sylicon
H HNBR Copolymer butadiene acrylonitrile Hidrogenated
O
Overpressure limit
The maximum pressure within which it is assured that no structural failure will occur in the pressure switch for a specified time that could result in personal injury or property damage.
P
Pressure range (Switching pressure)
The pressure measurement is normally relative to the existing air pressure, the air pressure corresponds to 0 bar.
- Pressures greater than air pressure: overpressure, positive values.
- Pressures lower than air pressure: negative pressure, negative values
S
Service life (electrical)
The number of switching operations that can be achieved under a defined electrical load.
Service life (mechanical)
The number of possible switching operations without electrical loading.
Switching current (max.)
Current that can be switched on and off, depending on the load and the type of current.
Switching function
Normally Open contant (N.O.)
When the pre-set switching point is exceeded, the pressure switch with N.O. switching function changes its switching state "OPEN" to "CLOSED", the circuit is closed.
Normally Closed contant (N. C.)
When the pre-set switching point is exceeded, the pressure switch with N.O. switching function changes its switching state "CLOSED" to "OPEN", the circuit is interrupted.
Changeover switch (SPDT = Single Pole Double Throw )
Pressure switches with changeover switching function can close one circuit and open a second one at the same time. Thus, only one connected circuit can be energized at a time.
Switching voltage (max.)
The maximum voltage that can be switched, depending on the load behavior and the type of current.
T
Temperature medium
Range between the lowest and the highest still permissible temperature of the medium.
W
Working pressure
The maximum pressure that can occur under normal operating and working conditions at a given time without suffering any type of electromechanical damage to the sensor or changing the original technical specifications. The working pressure gives a snapshot of the pressure-time curve during operating activity.
